The Embassy participated at the Nigeria Israel Political Dialogue held in Abuja, Nigeria on 11 August, 2025. The Technical Session of the Dialogue was co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director (Regions) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria and Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li, Deputy Director General and Head of Africa Division at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions at the dialogue covered a wide range of multilateral and bilateral issues, with Nigeria and Israel reaffirming their long-standing partnership, pledging to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas including security, counter-terrorism, trade, technology, and cultural exchange. Security and counter-terrorism dominated the talks, with both sides acknowledging that global security threats demand collective action. They agreed to deepen cooperation in intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism financing, and specialized security training.
The meeting also explored opportunities for joint initiatives in technology, border management innovation, capacity building, agriculture, tourism, culture, and consular services. Both countries expressed interest in facilitating exchange visits and study tours to strengthen institutional and people-to-people ties.
The High Level Session was attended by Her Excellency Ambassador Bianka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and Her Excellency Ambassador Sharren Mriam Haskel-Harpaz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel. The two Ministers expressed commitment to deepen collaborations between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the talks, Nigeria and Israel committed to maintaining constant dialogue and building a more robust bilateral relationship for mutual prosperity and regional stability.
